An abundance has been stated in the press recently concerning the bingo industry being hurt because of the smoking ban in the United Kingdom. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for big aid to assist in keeping the industry afloat. However will the net version of this classic game offer a salvation, or might it in no way compare to its real life peer?
Bingo is an classic game historically enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game recently had witnessed a recent increase in popularity with younger members of society deciding to visit the bingo halls instead of the bars on a weekend. All this is about to change with the legislating of the smoking ban throughout UK.
No longer will gamblers be permitted to smoke at the same time marking off their numbers. Beginning in the summer of ‘07 every public area will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favored places where folks like to smoke.
The results of the cigarette ban can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already not permitted in the bingo parlours. Players have plunged and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Of course they have not abandoned this established game?
The answer is on the internet. People know that they can play bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and fag and in the end, enjoy monstrous jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course betting on online is unlikely to replace the social part of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of people the rules have left many bingo enthusiasts with no option.
