Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. This is because the Native tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for years. Patrons from many of the nearby states get in cars and travel into Oklahoma to play Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) became law after a benchmark determination by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. Since that time, 23 of the thirty nine Indian bands located in Oklahoma have introduced gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the wagering restrictions, and today run 10 casinos of their own. Bingo is the game on which these casinos were built on. digital games such as slot machine games weren’t approved, since they are believed to lead to gambling dependency more than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma law have altered to permit large Native gambling gambling dens. You will now see Amerindian gambling halls with slot machines, video poker and 21 tables. Craps and roulette are not yet approved in the Native gambling halls as of yet, although this is simply a waiting game. Nobody can say whether having different casino games in the bingo houses will do for the draw of bingo.
