Might the Anti Cigarette Law in England Drive Bingo Enthusiasts Online?

An abundance has been written in the press not long ago concerning the bingo industry being hurt as a consequence of the anti cigarette law in the UK. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big tax cuts to help keep the businesses afloat. But does the internet variation of this traditional game provide a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo is an established game usually enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. Although the game of late had seen a recent comeback in appeal with younger men and women opting to hit the bingo halls in place of the clubs on a Friday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the enforcement of the smoking ban all over Britain.

No longer will enthusiasts be permitted to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. From the summer of 2007 every public location will not be permitted to allow smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most popular places where many people enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti smoking law can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo parlors. Players have dropped and the business is beyond a doubt struggling for to stay alive. But where did all the players go? Obviously they have not forgotten this ancient game?

The answer is on the internet. Players realise that they can wager on bingo from their computer while enjoying a drink and cig and in the end, enjoy big prizes. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.

Of course betting on on the net could never replace the communal aspect of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a group of players the law has left many bingo players with no alternative.
