Bingo in Oklahoma

[ English ]

Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. This is owing to the fact that the Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for decades. Clients from every one of the neighboring states get in passenger cars and travel to Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a precedent setting decree by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. Since that time, twenty three of the thirty nine Indian tribes located in Oklahoma have opened gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the betting laws, and today control 10 gambling dens of their own. Bingo is the game on which these gambling dens were founded. digital games such as slots weren’t permitted, since they’re believed to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma rules have changed to permit big American Indian gaming gambling halls. You will now see Native gambling halls with slot machine games, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are not yet allowed in the Indian gambling halls yet, however that is just a waiting game. Nobody can say whether having other games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
