Bingo in Oklahoma

[ English ]

Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That’s owing to the fact that the American Indian bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for years. Patrons from every one of the nearby states get in trucks and travel into Oklahoma to play Bingo for the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. From that instance, 23 of the thirty nine Indian bands located in Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Indian band to take advantage of the gaming laws, and at this time run ten gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were built on. Electronic games like one armed bandits weren’t authorized, on the grounds that they are believed to contribute to gambling problems more than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma governing edicts have altered to allow for big Native wagering gambling halls. You’ll now see Indian gambling dens with slot machines, video poker and twenty-one tables. Craps and roulette are not yet legal in the Native gambling dens as of yet, however this is just a matter of time. Nobody can say with what having other gambling hall games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
