Bingo and Oklahoma: 2 Peas in a Pod

Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. This is owing to the fact that the Indian bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for decades. Guests from many of the neighboring states get in passenger cars and travel to Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a benchmark decree by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. Since that time, 23 of the thirty nine Native bands of Oklahoma have introduced gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Indian band to take advantage of the gaming restrictions, and today control 10 casinos of their very own. Bingo was the game on which these casinos were built on. computerized games such as slots were not approved, on the grounds that they’re thought to contribute to gambling addiction at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma rules has altered to allow for big Amerindian gaming casinos. You’ll now see Indian gambling halls with one armed bandits, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are not yet allowed in the Indian gambling dens as of yet, however that is just a matter of time. No one can determine what having other games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
